PENNSYLVANIA (WHTM) — Pennsylvania has thousands of miles of roads, ranging from large highways to small dirt roads. But which one of these numbered roads is the longest?
US Route 6 travels east-west near the northern portion of Pennsylvania. It is the longest-numbered road in the entire state, traveling 403 miles. It has also been giving then designation of being called the Grand Army of the Republic Highway.

The road also encompasses two of the state’s scenic byways. One is the Gateway to the Endless Mountains Scenic BywaynearTunkhannockand theGovernor Casey Scenic Byway, located in Lackawanna County.
Most of the road is a two-lane rural highway, with some highway stretches when it bypasses larger towns in the state.
Many attractions can be found along Pennsylvania’s portion of Route 6. Some places include the Pine Creek Gorge known as Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon. It also features the Allegheny National Forest, Kinzua Bridge State Park, and the Pocono Mountains.
