WW1? Era pack
Hayman replied to Hayman's topic in LATEST FINDS
I’m certainly glad to have it in my collection anyway. I’ve always felt even the mods are part of an items history and can be collected and displayed as such as long as they are not represented as something they are not. Sometimes in the quest for the perfect specimen we may overlook some real gems. Thanks to all of you who offered helpful insight on this item-It is much appreciated. Hayman

Finally found a FSSF oval
Tonomachi replied to Tonomachi's topic in LATEST FINDS
The prices were somewhere in the 1500 to 1800 dollar range which was a lot more then the asking price for this piece. I saw what I felt was a legitimate occupation era Japanese made OSS bullion patch with the quilted center that you come across on better made pieces during this era. My guess is that a veteran of the OSS still serving overseas in Japan after the war used the design of those small badges given out to veterans of the OSS after the war to have I don't know how many of these patches produced for maybe a right arm SSI? The asking price was over 2000 dollar which was too rich for me. I also saw a beautiful bullion theater made 442nd RCT patch. The asking price was over 1000 dollars and I had already run out of money after buying the oval.

It is from the 601st Field Artillery Pack. My father in law was a "muler". If you are ever interested in parting with this amazing piece of history, my wife would be eternally grateful if we could purchase it.

M-1 Medics Helmet-3 Panel Medic named with Vets Dog Tags
CandyMan replied to Navybean's topic in
Leo Fornalczyk was my Grandfather! He passed away when I was 8 years old. I recently found out from a family member that he was a medic. I did a Google search and found this post. This is amazing. I've never seen any of his military belongings until right now. Where did you find it? He NEVER discussed the war. All we knew is that he was a Sergeant in the Army. We also knew that he was in the Battle of the Bulge. His feet were different sizes after the war due to frostbite. He went on to get married an had 3 sons and retired from General Electric in Erie, Pa. I'm one of his 3 grandsons. My dad also had no idea that his dad was a medic. I mean, he did not talk about it. I'd love to learn more about this collection and where it is now. I'm happy to see how well preserved it is! Thank you! -Greg Fornalczyk

Clutchback Pin Repair
Threewood posted a topic in WING BADGES
I got a nice set of A.E.CO Glider wings on ebay. One pin was broke off which may have contributed to the low price. I like to display my wings plus I'm a bit ocd, so I wanted to fix the pin. The remaining pin was attracted to a magnet, so my replacement was also steel. It is from a modified thumbtack the same length with a tiny nail head on it. I cleaned the old location with a mini ball in a dremel. I used a loupe to keep it precise. Added a small drop of Flux to the surface of the wing and pin and clipped off a tiny bit of silver solder and placed it in its spot. I heated the wing with a torch until the solder pooled, placed the pin, and held it until the solder was firm. Worked great and it is tight as I had to adjust the straightness.

Jack’s son, I don’t know if your still a member, but regarding Mike Ingletts medals I have much information having been very close to him before this terrible tragedy. If you’re looking for Mikes Family, I have names. They may want his medals. I left my name and number with support and I can probably answer so many of your questions and possibly how his beloved medals ended up in your hands. Thank you, “Sweet”
